About Us
Welcome to the Alliance of Beverage Licensees (ABLE BC)
Originally formed in 1975 as the Neighbourhood Pub Owners Association, the Alliance of Beverage Licensees (ABLE BC) is the voice for all Liquor Primary & Licensee Retail Stores in BC.
ABLE BC is the industry advocate for issues affecting pubs, bars and independent liquor stores throughout the province. ABLE BC communicates and consults with government, monitors and reports on industry issues and trends, and provides resources to help members build and grow their businesses.
Our record speaks for itself. Here are some things ABLE BC worked hard on, on our member’s behalf, to improve our industry and strengthen member businesses:
- Staggered minimum wage increase and tipped differential for Liquor Servers
- 1km separation between LRS Locations, increased from .5km
- Rural Agency and Private Wine stores now subject to the same enforcement criteria as LP and/or LRS
- Relaxation of trade practice provisions
- Ability to sell pre-mixed drinks (ex. use Bellini machines)
- Late night working alone hours now between 11pm and 6am, rather than between 10pm and 6am
- Increased Discount for LRS's from 10 to 16%
